The Smart Growth Operational Programme is the largest programme in the European Union for research and development grants and innovation funding. Thanks to it, funding for joint research and development projects is available for scientists and entrepreneurs, where the results are then used in practical applications for the economy. “From an idea to industry” is the main premise of the programme. It means supporting innovation, from the development of innovative products, services, or technologies, through the preparation of prototypes/pilot lines, to their commercialization.

Research and development
Support includes research and development projects carried out by scientific and scientific-industrial consortia (always led by an academic institution). By involving companies in projects, support will be provided for the commercialization of research results. Support shall be directed to projects carried out as part of the smart specialization process at the national or regional level.
Development of modern research infrastructures in the science sector
Support is directed to selected projects of large strategic R&D infrastructure, of a national and international nature, located on the Polish Road Map of Research Infrastructure. The aim of the projects is also to create effective access to this infrastructure for businesses and other stakeholders.
Supporting international research agendas
The support includes International Research Agendas created in Poland in cooperation with renowned scientific centers from other countries. The aim of the International Research Agendas is to carry out high-quality research and development, conducted by teams of outstanding international and Polish scientists.
