The Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences has started work on a highly efficient heat pump

The Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences inaugurated a project entitled “Highly efficient subcritical compressor heat pump with a reduced amount of environmentally friendly refrigerant.”
The project implemented under the Intelligent Development Operational Program 2014-2020 is financed by the National Center for Research and Development. The works will take 36 months. The project manager was dr hab. Inż. Paweł Obstawski, Head of the Department of Fundamentals of Engineering and Power Engineering IIM SGGW.

The aim of the project is to develop a construction of a high-efficiency reversible subcritical compressor heat pump of the 10-100 kW series working in the air-water and brine (water) -water system, powered by a natural refrigerant belonging to the A3 group with a GWP coefficient.< 30 and ODP = 0. A significant feature of the device will be the reduced mass of the refrigerant in the thermodynamic system. Ultimately, it is assumed that in the case of a heat pump with a capacity of 10kW-20kW, the weight of the refrigerant will be ≤ 100g / kW, while in the case of devices with a capacity of 20kW-100kW, the weight of the refrigerant in the system will be ≤ 150g / kW....
