Every year in front of the statue commemorating Stanis\u0142aw Staszic the Association of SGGW Alumni celebrates the memory of this great scientist, patriot, philanthropist, and one of the founders of our University.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>

SGGW Authorities together with the representatives of the Association of SGGW Alumni, trade unions, students, university staff, as well as students and teachers of schools named after Staszic took part in a commemoration of the achievements of Stanis\u0142aw Staszic. This year’s ceremony was attended by students and teachers from the <\/span>Zesp\u00f3l Szk\u00f3\u0142 Rolniczych im. St. Staszica<\/span><\/i> in Mi\u0119tne.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

St<\/b>anis\u0142aw Staszic<\/b> was an important figure in Polish history<\/span>: a Catholic priest, philosopher, geologist, writer, poet, translator, and statesman. He <\/span>supported many reforms in Poland. He was also one of the founders of our University.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

These are just a few of the reasons why the Society of Friends of Warsaw and the Association of SGGW Alumni were strongly involved in the initiative to erect a memorial stone for Stanis\u0142aw Staszic. The stone was erected in 1976, and the sculptor, Stanis\u0142aw Lipski was present during this year’s ceremony dedicated to Staszic.<\/span><\/p>

The ceremony in front of Stanis\u0142aw Staszic’s stone at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences campus was attended by:\u00a0<\/span>SGGW Rector, prof. dr hab. Micha\u0142 Zasada, Vice-Rector for Development, prof. dr hab. Kazimierz Tomala,\u00a0<\/span>Vice-Rector for Didactics, prof. dr hab. Jaros\u0142aw Go\u0142\u0119biewski,\u00a0 <\/span>Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, dr hab. Marta Mendel, <\/span>SGGW Chancellor, dr. in\u017c. W\u0142adys\u0142aw Skar\u017cy\u0144ski.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The delegation of the Association of SGGW Alumni was represented by Ms. Gra\u017cyna Skalmierska and mgr in\u017c. J\u00f3zef Rzewuski.<\/span><\/p>

The ceremony was also attended by delegations of trade unions, ZNP and Solodarno\u015b\u0107 operating at SGGW. Dr. Miros\u0142awa Bednarza-Libera, head of the Scientific and Educational Department, Museum Historii Polskiego Ruchu Ludowego, Warsaw delivered a lecture on the activities of\u00a0 Stanis\u0142aw Staszic.<\/span><\/p>
