Warsaw University of Life Sciences once again took part in the “Tree Day” celebrated on October 10. On this occasion, the Rector’s College planted 6 Red Sunset clones.<\/strong><\/div>\n

Rector of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, prof. dr hab. Micha\u0142 Zasada, Vice-Rector for Development prof. dr hab. Kazimierz Tomala, Vice-Rector for the science of prof. dr hab. In\u017c. Tomasz Okruszko, Vice-Rector for didactics dr hab. Jaros\u0142aw Go\u0142\u0119biewski, prof. WULS-SGGW, Vice-Rector for international cooperation dr hab. Marta Mendel and Chancellor dr in\u017c. W\u0142adys\u0142aw Skar\u017cy\u0144ski planted clones in the WOLICA Experimental Field of the Department of Genetics, Plant Breeding and Biotechnology of the Institute of Biology, Warsaw University of Life Sciences.<\/p>\n

It is worth adding that the trees were planted as part of replacement plantings. In connection with the construction of a feed warehouse for the Department of Large Animal Diseases and the Clinic of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and the Department of Animal Breeding of the Institute of Animal Sciences, 7 trees had to be cut. In return WULS-SGGW will plant 38 new seedlings on its premises, including field maple ( Acer campestre)<\/em> , red maple ( Acer rubrum<\/em> ‘Red Sunset’), silver linden ( Tilia tomentosa)<\/em> and mountain ash (‘Fastigiata’, Sorbus aucuparia ‘Fastigiata’).<\/em><\/p>\n

This year’s, 18. the edition of the program is held under the slogan “Tree Festival for Animals”. The initiator of the Klub Gaja event encourages everyone to take local actions to plant and protect trees for animals, for whom tree plantings are often their only home on Earth. In our gardens and parks, we can create friendly nooks for them by planting honey and fruit species. Let us also think about preparing suitable shelters, nesting boxes and drinkers for our wild friends.<\/p>\n

“Tree Day” is a festival started in 2003. Klub Gaja ecological education program for environmental and climate protection supported by real action – planting and protection of trees. Every year, on October 10, there is a nationwide inauguration, accompanied by the action of planting trees. Since 2007 The program is part of the Billion Tree Campaign for the Planet, a UN-backed global tree planting initiative to meet the challenges of climate change.<\/p>\n

WULS-SGGW, bearing in mind the good of nature and showing concern for the condition of the natural environment, has been carrying out plantings for years, only since 2017 over 200 trees were planted on campus.<\/p>\n
