Dr. hab. Mariusz Maciejczak, prof. SGGW, Head of the Institute of Economics and Finance, SGGW spoke about economic development strategies in Europe and worldwide during the conference held on 6 July 2023 in the Senate of the Republic of Poland.<\/strong><\/p>

During the conference, Professor Maciejczak presented the importance of bioeconomy, its global and regional approaches and challenges.<\/p>

He emphasized the impact of the biological revolution on the economy and our lives – health, materials, consumer goods and energy.<\/p>

The potential of this economy and the use of biomass has already been recognized around the world. The bioeconomy is developed in Germany, and the United States where it is most technologically advanced and based on public-private partnership, and in Canada the initiative to prepare a strategy came from business, supported by appropriate regulations.<\/p>

In 2012, the first document on the strategy for the development of bioeconomy in the European Union was prepared. Its main objectives include the development and strengthening of bio-based sectors, the rapid introduction of the bioeconomy across Europe, the protection of the ecosystem and understanding the ecological limits of the bioeconomy. Local bioeconomy strategies have been introduced in Finland, Lithuania and Latvia.<\/p>

According to prof. Maciejczak<\/strong>, Poland has significant potential, hence it should be given a proper direction and development strategy. Bioeconomy is a practical response to the requirements of sustainable development, it stimulates regional and local development.\u00a0<\/p>

From a public and private perspective, innovation based on natural processes is a key factor as far as the development of the bioeconomy is concerned.<\/p>

During the discussion panel, attended by Senators of the Republic of Poland and representatives of science, the participants tried to emphasize the importance of bioeconomy development strategy, the use of raw materials, micro-organisms and innovative solutions as well as the need to develop appropriate legislation.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
