Dr hab. Magdalena Kr\u00f3l, prof. WULS-SGGW was among the fifty-five fellows<\/a> European Council for Research People who have received Proof of Concept ERC grants to test the commercial or social potential of their research results. The grants are part of the EU’s research and innovation program, Horizon 2020.<\/h3>\n

Award-winning projects cover a wide variety of topics, eg faster and cheaper approaches to the detection of pathogenic microorganisms; low power and energy hearing implants; or developing a sustainable social business to manage and ethically disseminate transferred DNA data to scientists.<\/p>\n

Prof. dr hab. Magdalena Kr\u00f3l is a specialist in the field of experimental oncology. Her work has been appreciated and awarded many times. She received, among others the Ministry of Science and Higher Education scholarship for outstanding young scientists, the Pfizer Animal Health scholarship, the L’Oreal postdoctoral scholarship and the Unesco award for women, as well as distinctions of the Polish Society of Veterinary Sciences. In 2016, received the prestigious Starting Grant of the European Council for Research (ERC) with a value of EUR 1.4 million.<\/p>\n

European Council for Since 2008, the European Research Council (ERC) has been awarding grants for ground-breaking research conducted in the European Union and associated countries.<\/p>\n

European Council for Scientific Research ( European Research Council – ERC<\/em><\/a> ) supports creative and innovative research ideas in all fields of knowledge. Interdisciplinary projects with a high degree of scientific risk, leading to important discoveries and breakthrough results are highly valued. The classic division into basic and applied research does not matter: research must be cognitive, pioneering, and go beyond the current limits of knowledge ( frontier research<\/em><\/a> ).<\/p>\n

The ERC consists of an independent Scientific Council and an Executive Agency ( European Research Council Executive Agency – ERCEA<\/em> ). The members of the Scientific Council – the top 20 representatives of the European research community – act on their own behalf, regardless of political or national interests. The chairman is Professor Mauro Ferrari.<\/p>\n

The Scientific Council determines the specifics of grants and the level of their financing, develops the annual work program, establishes the procedure for the evaluation of applications, appoints experts to evaluate applications, and monitors the implementation of the program from the scientific point of view.<\/p>\n

Dr. Hab. Magdalena Kr\u00f3l, prof. WULS-SGGW conducts research on cancer at the Institute of Biology.
