The European Commission (EC) announced on 21 March 2024, that it proposed a series of targeted actions to boost biotechnology and biomanufacturing in the European Union (EU), known as Building the Future with Nature. The development of these areas addresses societal and environmental challenges, such as climate mitigation and adaptation, access to and sustainable use of natural resources, restoration of vital nature systems, food supply and security, and human health.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cBuilding the Future with Nature\u201d the EU Communication<\/strong><\/h6>

This Communication summarizes the current challenges and barriers for biotechnology and biomanufacturing and proposes actions to address these challenges promptly, in line with Communication. It also explores ways to foster engagement and collaboration through international dialogue and cooperation. The European Bioeconomy University Alliance \u2013 EBU proudly acknowledges and echoes the recent Communication from the Commission to the European Parliament, the Council, the European Economic and Social Committee, and the Committee of the Regions on \u201cBuilding the Future with Nature: Boosting Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing in the EU\u201d. As advocates for the advancement of the bioeconomy on a European level, we are pleased to see the European Commission recognize the pivotal role these sectors play in shaping the future of the bioeconomy.<\/p>


Boosting Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing<\/strong><\/h6>

EBU emphasizes the critical importance of leveraging research and boosting innovation by especially investing in joint research opportunities. Nurturing skills by addressing competence gaps within the Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing sectors represents another fundamental aspect for EBU, which can be tackled by strategic partnerships and cooperation with key stakeholders. The EBU is relentless in its efforts to bridge the gap between education and the industry sector, fostering meaningful collaborations and ensuring that educational opportunities are aligned with the needs of the bioeconomy industry through bilateral exchanges, facilitating a seamless transition into the industry.<\/p>


EBU Alliance <\/strong><\/h6>

Comprising eight esteemed university partners, the EBU Alliance stands at the forefront of bioeconomy education and research in Europe.
