Registration<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a><\/p>

The ecological footprint enables the measurement of the environmental impact of human activities and represents the amount of biologically productive land and water areas required to support a specific population or an individual\u2019s lifestyle, considering the consumption of resources and the absorption of waste.<\/p>

According to the\u00a0UNIgreen Green Strategy<\/strong>, UNIgreen will implement an Ecological Footprint Evaluation of each partner in the consortium. In order to implement a participatory process to increase environmental and climate responsibility, the Alliance will annually inform the UNIgreen Academic Community, its Associated Partners and key stakeholders on the ecological footprint in each of the Alliance countries and the situation at European level, as well as on progress made by UNIgreen.<\/p>

The UNIgreen WP6 team published Ecological Footprint Compensation Guidelines, which describe the methodology related to the Ecological footprint evaluation and carbon footprint calculation and compensation, as well as the initiatives aiming to increase environmental and climate responsibility. The methodology for the carbon footprint calculation was developed by colleagues from HEPL, UNIMORE, and SupBiotech using the experience from the U-green project. In order to compensate the carbon emmissions generated by the mobility of staff and students, the UNIgreen Consortium aims to undertake a minimum of 25 tree-planting projects within the Ecological Footprint Compensation Programme by the year 2026. In order to ensure visibility, transparency, and effective communication with local communities about its green commitments, all this information will be displayed in the sustainability section of the UNIgreen website and upgraded annually.<\/p>
