SGGW will host a unique scientific event. On 29 May, we will host Prof. Craig C. Mello, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.<\/h2>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Professor Mello, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2006 for his discovery of the mechanism of RNA interference, is one of the most eminent scientists of our time. His groundbreaking research has opened up new perspectives for gene therapy and contributed to the development of innovative treatments for cancer, neurodegenerative diseases and metabolic disorders, among others.<\/p>

As director of the RNA Therapeutics Institute in the US, Prof Mello not only conducts pioneering research, but is also involved in the development of biotechnology start-ups, shaping the future of medicine at the interface between science and industry.<\/p>

The event is being organised as part of The Nobel Prize Inspiration Initiative, an international programme run by Nobel Prize Outreach in partnership with AstraZeneca. The initiative aims to inspire young scientists and integrate academia through face-to-face meetings with Nobel Prize winners.<\/p>

The co-organisers of the event are: Warsaw Medical University and the University of Warsaw.<\/p>
