The Warsaw University of Life Sciences is the first university in Poland to have a dynamic model of the artificial gastrointestinal tract. Apparatus allowing for a very faithful imitation and monitoring of the processes taking place in the stomach, small intestine and large intestine in controlled conditions will be used for the research work of the Institute of Human Nutrition Sciences.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

The SHIME2\u00ae model enables the study of microbiota of both children, adults and the elderly. The artificial digestive tract will be used to perform a wide range of experiments, including metabolism of dietary components, their impact on the intestinal microbiota or research on probiotic food. WULS-SGGW is the first academic center in Poland that can pride itself on having such a unique and complete technology. <\/span><\/span><\/p>

The equipment was purchased as part of the Project entitled “Food and Nutrition Center – modernization of the SGGW campus in order to create the Food and Nutrition Research and Development Center (C\u017bi\u017b)” implemented at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. <\/span><\/span><\/p>
