From 13 to 15 November, the General Assembly, Forum and Student Scientific Conference of the European ELLS network are taking place in Uppsala, Sweden.\nELLS brings together leading universities collaborating in the fields of natural resource management, agricultural and forestry sciences, biological sciences, animal sciences, food sciences, environmental sciences and rural development, including agricultural economics and rural sociology.\n<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

General Assembly and ELLS 2025 Forum<\/strong><\/p>

On 13 November, a delegation from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, led by Rector Prof. Micha\u0142 Zasada and Vice-Rector for Internationalisation Prof. Marta Mendel, participated in the official opening of the General Assembly and ELLS 2025 Forum, as well as in presentations and task force meetings.<\/p>

The GAF & SSC conference is an important forum for cooperation between students, doctoral students and researchers from member universities of the Euroleague for Life Sciences (ELLS) \u2013 a network of leading European universities with a natural and agricultural profile, as well as two partner universities from outside Europe, namely the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel and Lincoln University in New Zealand. During the meeting, the rectors decided on a new name for the network, which will operate as the European League of Life Science Universities (ELLS) from 1 January 2026. A new management structure was also agreed, based on four bodies: the Board of Rectors, the Task Force Education, the Task Force Research and the Liaison Hub.<\/p>

The new ELLS structure is primarily aimed at expanding and improving the functioning of the network and emphasising the ambition for deeper cooperation, including in the area of scientific research,\u2019 emphasises the Rector of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences.<\/em> – Prof. Micha\u0142 Zasada, Rector SGGW.<\/p><\/blockquote>

The next edition of GAF & SSC will be held at L’Institut Agro, while in 2027 the ELLS community will be hosted by the Warsaw University of Life Sciences.<\/p>


Student Scientific Conference 14-15 November 2025<\/strong><\/p>

Over the next few days, the SLU Ultuna campus in Uppsala became a hub for international knowledge exchange during the ELLS Scientific Student Conference 2025. The event brings together students and young scientists from universities belonging to the Euroleague for Life Sciences, creating a space for presenting research, networking and developing academic skills.<\/p>

The special guest of the event was Jonas Hentati Sundberg, who gave an inspiring lecture entitled \u2018Undisciplinary Perspectives on Sustainability Science in a Changing World: Insights from an Ecologist’s Winding Career Journey.\u2019 The presentation addressed the topic of an interdisciplinary approach to sustainability research and the speaker’s personal experiences in scientific work.<\/p>

The conference is an excellent opportunity for students from our university to present their work, broaden their knowledge on a specific topic and exchange views with others. During the conference, awards are given for the best posters and oral presentations, among other things. Students are encouraged to submit abstracts of their bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral theses from their first year of study. Presentations take two forms: oral and poster presentations.<\/p>

Students who have been selected to give an oral presentation prepare a presentation lasting a maximum of 15 minutes. This is followed by a discussion with the audience. The Conference also features guided poster sessions. During these sessions, the authors present three-minute presentations at their posters and then answer questions from the audience.<\/p>

I am extremely pleased that 16 students and doctoral students from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences have the opportunity to present the results of their research to their colleagues from partner universities and, perhaps, to embark on a fascinating scientific career path<\/em>. – emphasises Marta Mendel, Vice-Rector for Internationalisation at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences.<\/p><\/blockquote>

ELSA<\/strong><\/p>

The voice of students in ELLS is ELSA \u2013 the Euro Law Students’ Association, which represents the interests of students within the network. ELSA representatives participate in meetings at all levels of the organisation. ELSA has one vote on the ELLS board and two votes on the task force.<\/p>
