Dr hab. Hanna Bolibok-Br\u0105goszewska and prof. dr hab. Monika Rakoczy-Trojanowska from the Department of Genetics, Plant Breeding and Biotechnology, Institute of Biology of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, are co-authors of the publication entitled Chromosome-scale genome assembly provides insights into rye biology, evolution and agronomic potential, which appeared in the prestigious journal Nature Genetics (IF 27,605).<\/strong><\/p>

The publication is the result of the work of the International Rye Genome Sequencing Consortium [IRGSC] and concerns obtaining the reference sequence of the rye genome and its comprehensive analysis.<\/p>

The discovery will provide a better understanding of the biology of rye, which could help improve other rye-related crops such as wheat and barley.<\/p>

Among the researchers from Poland, Ph.D. also worked in the international IRGSC consortium. Beata My\u015bk\u00f3w and dr hab. Stefan Stoja\u0142owski from the Department of Genetics, Breeding and Plant Biotechnology of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin.<\/p>
