    Basic Information about the Service

    Each student has a University e-mail account in the Microsoft 365 service (also known as Office 365). Accounts created automatically based on the active status of the student in the dean’s office system.

    The Microsoft 365 service includes a number of online applications – their service and communication takes place via a web browser from virtually any place and device with Internet access:

    • E-mail with Outlook – users get 50GB of space for their correspondence;
    • OneDrive service, which is a data warehouse “in the cloud” (users get 1TB of space to save their data);
    • Online MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) that allow you to create and edit online documents; ;
    • Teams as a hub for group work (chat, online meetings);
    • ClassNotebook – for taking notes and sharing content;
    • SharePoint – web application platform;
    • Sway – an application that allows you to easily create and share interactive reports and presentations;
    • Forms – a service that allows you to easily create surveys, tests and polls as well as share and fill them out;
    • Delve – an application that allows you to browse, search, organize and view documents available “for us” in the Office 365 service in one place;
    • Stream – allows you to upload, view and share videos;
    • Planner – supporting task planning.

    Most of the services have their versions for mobile devices.

  • Student Houses

    Internet in dormitories

    Inhabitants of dormitories located on the campus of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) are covered by the SGGW General University Computer Network (OSK) and therefore have free Internet access in this area. When using OSK, one should remember about the principles of its safe and lawful use (included, among others, in the OSK Regulations) and about proper preparation of the computer for connection to the network. Please see below for details.

    Rules for the use of OSK in dormitories

    The basic internal document that should be read before using the OSK is OSK Regulations with links to further legal regulations.

    It is unacceptable:

    • downloading and disseminating illegal content online,
    • use of P2P software,
    • impersonating other users, attacking networks or computers, deliberately charging links, preventing the operation of network services, sending spam, etc.,
    • generating activities that affect the security or stability of the network,
    • adding routers and AP * to the network without the consent of the Information Center (CI).
      It is recommended to use switches with RJ45 type access ports. Connection of the router or wireless AP is only possible with permission
      and after reporting such a device to CI. To register the device, you need the physical address (MAC) of the router’s WAN port as well as the socket number and the room number in which the router will be located.

    The above actions will result in disconnecting the computer from OSK.

    In order to use OSK safely and effectively, it is necessary to:

    • configure your computer so that it obtains an IP address automatically (settings of the network adapter of the TCP / IP protocol). Under no circumstances should you enter permanent addresses in the configuration,
    • remember that the operating system on the computer is up-to-date and has up-to-date anti-virus software installed,
    • in everyday work, use an account with lower privileges than the administrator. This will certainly reduce the threat from some viruses and other malware.

    Connection to OSK
    The standard equipment of rooms in buildings on the premises of the SGGW Campus is a socket. Active socket after connecting a computer to it allows access to OSK.

    In order to connect a computer to OSK in a student dormitory, it is necessary to:

    1. Owning:

    • a computer equipped with a typical Ethernet 1000/100/10 network card with an RJ45 connector. (it is standard equipment on most computers, except for netbooks and smartphones),
    • network cable of appropriate length, terminated with RJ45 plugs.

    2. Socket activation notification, router registration

    Due to the fact that most power sockets in student houses are active,
    Before reporting on activation, check the status of the socket in question.

    The notification should include:

    • name and surname of the reporting person,
    • phone number,
    • the name of the dormitory,
    • room number,
    • socket number,
    • a short description of the problem,
    • persons reporting the router are additionally asked to provide the MAC number.

    Applications should be sent directly to the IT Helpdesk .

  • Public computer rooms

    Public computer rooms for SGGW students

    WULS-SGGW students can use publicly available computer stations located in Main Library of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences and the IT Laboratory of the Faculty of Applied Informatics and Mathematics (building 34, third floor).
    Detailed information on the organization of work and the principles of using publicly available computer stations can be obtained on the spot.
