On 14 May 2026, representatives of SGGW, the Embassy of Japan in Poland, and Copernicus Trading met at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) to discuss opportunities for strengthening cooperation between the university and Japanese partners.
The meeting focused on potential areas of collaboration in education, technology exchange, and implementation of activities, as well as opportunities for joint research and development projects.
Representing the Embassy of Japan in Poland were Hideki Taniguchi, First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in Poland and representative of the Economic Section responsible for economic cooperation, and Wiktoria Borowska, representative of the Embassy’s Economic Section responsible for economic and agricultural affairs.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of Copernicus Trading, Masato Hayashi and Keiichiro Asano. The company supports the development of cooperation between Polish and Japanese partners.
SGGW was represented by Prof. Marta Mendel, Vice-Rector for Internationalization, together with representatives of the SGGW Technology Transfer Center: Eng. Zuzanna Rucińska and dr. Anna Wójtowicz-Krawiec.
The discussions concerned a proposal to establish cooperation with the Embassy of Japan, which could eventually lead to the signing of an official partnership agreement. The meeting also took place in the context of the recently concluded cooperation agreement in the field of agriculture between Poland and Japan at the prime ministerial level.
The parties expressed their willingness to continue discussions and further develop relations. The next step will involve presenting selected areas of activity carried out by SGGW units that could form the basis for future cooperation.
