For two days, the SGGW campus transformed into a vibrant space filled with science, culture, and community, offering a rich program of artistic performances, demonstrations, workshops, and activities that attracted visitors from across Warsaw and beyond.
SGGW Days 2026 are already behind us. On 15 and 16 May, the campus of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) was full of life, welcoming students, staff, alumni, and residents of the capital city. The university grounds became a place where visitors could not only explore SGGW’s educational and scientific offers, but above all experience the spirit of the academic community.
Official Ceremony at the Crystal Hall
The official opening ceremony took place on 15 May at the Crystal Hall and was inaugurated by the Rector of SGGW, Prof. Michał Zasada. One of the most important moments of the day was the awarding of the honorary doctorate title to Prof. Michal Lošťák, Rector of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague.
The ceremony also included awards for outstanding scientific and teaching achievements, medals recognizing contributions to the university, and the formal promotion of doctoral graduates.
Music, Dance, and Stage Full of Emotions
The artistic program began on 15 May with a concert by the SGGW Representative Orchestra. Concert of SGGW Representative Orchestra The stage in front of the Rector’s Palace was filled with popular music and film soundtracks. The same day also marked the opening of the International Dance Couples Festival, alongside performances by the PROMNI Folk Artistic Ensemble and SQER Dance. The first edition of the festival was won by a dance couple from Mongolia.
The second day brought further musical highlights. The SGGW Representative Orchestra performed together with the SGGW Choir and the Italian Schola Cantorum Aristotele Pacini choir. Visitors also enjoyed additional performances by PROMNI and festival dance presentations.

The celebrations concluded with the gala concert “Otdih” at the Palace of the Commonwealth, featuring contemporary choral music from Central and Eastern Europe. The concert was conducted by Giulia Bascelli, Michał Kosikowski, Tomasz Cepiel, and Paweł Choina.
Outdoor Activities Across the Campus
Throughout both days, the SGGW campus became an open space for learning and discovery. Visitors had the opportunity to meet scientists and students at faculty and institute stands, gaining insight into research and educational activities carried out across the university.
Police dog training demonstrations and raptor presentations attracted significant interest. Modern agricultural machinery and innovative automation technologies were also showcased.
Visitors could explore the “Colours and Flavours of Nature” market, featuring ornamental plants, vegetable seedlings, herbs, and natural products.
Faculties and institutes prepared numerous demonstrations and experiments, including environmental engineering presentations featuring filtration systems, thermal imaging technology, and water retention models. Wood enthusiasts could observe CNC machinery demonstrations, historical carpentry tools, and furniture assembly processes. Meanwhile, the Main Library invited visitors to take part in literary and educational quizzes designed for both adults and children.
Participants could also learn about projects supported by the European Union through an outdoor exhibition organized as part of the National Center for Research and Development initiative “Funduszowy Maj.”
Workshops, Lectures and Educational Meetings
The programme also included a wide range of educational events. Participants could join weaving workshops, attend a lecture about the fascinating world of glass frogs, or visit the Osteological Museum and the Small Animal Clinic.
Discussion sessions covered diverse topics – from happiness in Bhutan and conversations about Gen Z to reflections on traditional building methods using wood, straw, and clay.
The event program also featured exhibitions, including “Historical Wood” and “Beetles of the World,” attracting nature and science enthusiasts.
Space for Relaxation and Inspiration
Visitors could also enjoy the recreation area prepared by the Faculty of Forestry, offering relaxation in hammocks among the trees and guided dendrological walks. Unusual attractions, such as a “Teddy Bear Hospital” and demonstrations showing how artificial blood is produced, also drew considerable attention.
A Celebration of the Academic Community
As part of the celebrations marking 210 years of SGGW tradition, SGGW Days 2026 highlighted the strength and diversity of the university community, built over generations on knowledge, openness, and collaboration.
The event was not only an opportunity to promote education and science, but above all a space for meetings, integration, and celebrating the rich history of the university together.
Two dynamic days filled with conversations, presentations, and activities left participants with many positive memories and once again confirmed that SGGW is a place where 210 years of tradition are harmoniously combined with innovation and a forward-looking vision for the future.
