
The Warsaw University of Life Sciences continues its educational cooperation in Tanzania. As part of the Polish Aid programme, university staff conduct training courses for teachers and technical personnel of the Livestock Training Agency in Tengeru, supporting the development of competences in the field of milk processing safety and technology.
The Warsaw University of Life Sciences, in cooperation with the Science for Development Foundation, is implementing the next stage of the project ‘Improving the quality of education for young people in milk processing in Tanzania by improving teaching conditions – creation of a Centre of Excellence – module 2’. The project is financed under the Polish Aid programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Thanks to the involvement of experts from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences at the Livestock Training Agency (LITA) in Tengeru, training courses are being conducted on the safety and hygiene of drinking milk and the technology of processing dairy products, including fermented products. The beneficiaries of the project are LITA teachers and technical staff.
During her visit to Tanzania, the Vice-Rector for Internationalisation, Dr Marta Mendel, Prof. SGGW, met with the Chargé d’affaires a.i. of the Polish Embassy in Tanzania, Sergiusz Wolski, as well as with the authorities of the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST), headed by the Rector, Prof. Maulilio John Kipanyuli. The talks focused on possible areas of scientific cooperation and tools to support its development.
The visit culminated in a symbolic laying of flowers at the cemetery in Tengeru, a place of special significance for the history of Poles in East Africa, where the largest Polish settlement on the continent was located between 1942 and 1952.
