On 17 July, the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) hosted a meeting with a foreign delegation representing its partner institution, Erbil Polytechnic University.
SGGW was represented by the Vice-Rector for Internationalization, Associate Professor Marta Mendel, and Ewelina Belkiewicz, MSc Eng., Vice Head of the Office for International Relations. The guests included Professor Edrees Muhamad Nury, Rector of Erbil Polytechnic University, and Professor Abdullah Omar Yassen, Director of the International Relations Office.
Cooperation between SGGW and Erbil Polytechnic University is carried out under the Erasmus+ programme. During the visit, the parties discussed prospects for further development of the partnership, including the possibility of expanding cooperation under a new bilateral agreement extending the current scope of activities. It is worth noting that SGGW continues to attract strong interest among students from Erbil Polytechnic University, who since the academic year 2023/2024 regularly come to Warsaw for semester-long exchange periods.
Erbil Polytechnic University is a public polytechnic institution based in Erbil, in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The university offers programmes in engineering (including civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering), computer science, economics, medical sciences, as well as agriculture and forestry, while also operating research centres focused on renewable energy, water resource management, and public health. EPU is also featured in international university rankings, including the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
