SGGW Featured in Two International University Rankings
SGGW has been included in two international university rankings: the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2026 and the Times Higher Education Europe University Rankings 2027. While the rankings use different methodologies and focus on different aspects of university performance, both highlight the importance of research, education and sustainable development in shaping the position of higher education institutions.
UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2026
SGGW has been included in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2026 for the first time. The ranking evaluates universities’ commitment to sustainable development and their efforts to create environmentally responsible and sustainable campuses.
This year’s edition includes higher education institutions from 110 countries. SGGW was ranked 1,457th worldwide and was among 15 Polish universities included in the ranking.
Education and research is one of the areas assessed by UI GreenMetric, and it was the category in which SGGW achieved its highest score. The ranking also evaluates a range of other areas, including infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste management, transportation and water management.
Times Higher Education Europe University Rankings 2027
SGGW has also been included in the Times Higher Education Europe University Rankings 2027, where it ranked 517th.
The Times Higher Education ranking assesses universities across five broad areas, including the research environment, research quality, industry engagement and international outlook.
SGGW’s highest score – 42.5 points – was recorded in research quality, highlighting the strong role of research activity in the university’s performance in the international ranking.
Different perspectives on university performance
The two rankings use different methodologies and provide insight into different dimensions of university performance. UI GreenMetric focuses on sustainability and the responsible operation of university campuses, while Times Higher Education takes a broader view of academic and research performance, including the quality and environment of research, engagement with industry and international outlook.
For SGGW, inclusion in both rankings provides an additional perspective on the university’s position among higher education institutions in Poland and around the world, while highlighting the importance of both sustainable development and research excellence in its ongoing development.
