UNIgreen Alliance Meeting at SupBiotech University in Paris
From October 28 to 30, 2026, SupBiotech University in Paris hosted a meeting summarizing the four years of operation of the UNIgreen Alliance—the Green European University, of which the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) has been a member since 2023. The event was attended by representatives from all partner universities of the alliance, including a delegation from SGGW led by the Rector, Prof. Michał Zasada, and the First Deputy Rector, Vice-Rector for Internationalization, Prof. Marta Mendel.
The three-day meeting provided a platform to review the achievements of all working groups, strengthen cooperation, and discuss strategic directions for the consortium’s development in education, research, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development. The meeting also provided an opportunity to get to know the new members of the alliance better, namely Centria University of Applied Sciences in Finland and Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences in Germany.
As part of the three-day event, inaugural sessions were held to review the progress of the alliance’s goals, led by UNIgreen General Coordinator José Luis Ruiz. Dedicated meetings for Rectors and institutional alliance coordinators were also held, focusing on governance and impact evaluation of the network’s activities. Experts from all work packages (WP1–WP9) met in parallel panels to summarize current tasks, including the joint educational offer, mobility support, research cooperation, the implementation of a shared digital infrastructure (Digital Campus), and communication activities.
As part of the discussions on future development paths and building a stronger European Higher Education Area, workshops were organized with representatives from other prominent European University alliances: CIRCLE U., focusing on exchanging experiences, sharing best practices, and exploring opportunities for inter-alliance cooperation; and YUFE, regarding effective communication practices, stakeholder engagement, and strategies for increasing the visibility and impact of UNIgreen activities across Europe and beyond.
The event was also attended by students from all universities within the alliance. Participants in the student ambassador program worked together to develop the framework for the UNIgreen Student Council. This body will consist of student representatives from the partner universities, who will be integrated into the alliance’s work at all levels. Furthermore, the students presented innovative projects developed under the SURES program. The selected student teams pitched their creative, eco-friendly solutions to the alliance’s management during the final Innovation Challenge.
The event concluded with a plenary session titled “UNIgreen+ Towards 2027,” which outlined the alliance’s ambitious priorities for the coming years, with a particular focus on innovation in agriculture, biotechnology, and life sciences.
