More than 170 students of English-taught programmes and participants of exchange programmes starting their studies at SGGW in the winter semester 25/26 took part in the Welcome Day event on Saturday, 4 October.
Our new students came from 58 different countries, including Ireland, France, China, Spain, Mexico, Ghana, Slovakia, Portugal, Vietnam, the UK, Turkey, India, Canada, and many more.
The event began with a warm greeting from dr hab. Marta Mendel, SGGW professor and Vice-Rector for Internationalization, who invited everyone to share their first impressions of SGGW.
Then, our UNIgreen Ambassadors – Polish students involved in the European University alliance – talked about what UNIgreen is and how it benefits SGGW students.
Support services such as WePoint, the Main Library, the Careers Office, and the Foreign Languages Centre also presented how they can help students throughout their time at the university. Participants learned about important practical topics, from campus safety to residence permits, health insurance, and medical care in Poland.
Representatives of the Student Council, Student Council International, and Erasmus Student Network (ESN) shared what they do and encouraged new students to get involved.
The cultural part of the day included a presentation about Polish traditions and daily life, followed by a quiz with prizes. To wrap up, the Foreign Languages Centre ran a short Polish language session, where everyone had the chance to try out some basic phrases and Polish pronunciation.
The event was hosted with great energy by Zhamilia Abdyldaeva, a third-year SGGW student of Organic Agriculture and Food Production, and organized by WePoint.
We wish all our new students an amazing start to their studies and a wonderful time at SGGW!
